Hoaxing customers into taking on additional contra

Received call from Vodacom and was offered phone which "would work out cheaper per month" than my current option. Gave me full breakdown of my expenses on phone including calls and internet usage and that the new SMART M package would work out R299 per month and include some free minutes, some SMS and 500mb data, etc. Could also choose between 3 phones and this would be delivered at work in 5 working days. he also mentioned my current contract is 9 month sold. I was also encouraged to cancel my current internet add on, which is on my current contract, which I have done (because of my additional data on new contract). After investigating this I found that I was hoaxed into getting an additional contract on top of my current contract, paying for two contracts. Why on earth would anybody agree on two contracts especially after being convinced that the second option is better because it will save me cost?
After several calls I managed to cancel the second contract. Just wondering how many customers are hoaxed into a second account by Vodacom. Not a happy client :-(
