Still asking for payment 4 months after settling

My husband opened an account for me with MTN. Somehow THEY never took one debit order so we ended up with an outstanding amount. We got laywer calls and threats for YEARS even after we settled so we werent allowed to upgrade or do anything on the account but eventually it got sorted out. We closed the account in December 2011 and were told we owe them R1236.00 a few months AFTER closing. I paid the outstanding amount (R1236.00) December 2012. We are in April already and we are getting calls from MTN attorneys VVM at 21h00 asking us for payment, who on earth phones 21h00 at night??? A few times we were told it was sorted and closed but now the calls are starting again. This is affecting my husbands credit and it better get sorted out by MTN very soon before we start threatening with laywers!!!
