New contract process

I have phoned Virgin Mobile to enquire about opening a new contract, they take your ID number and say that they have to do a credit check and will get back to you in 48hours, which I think is bad enough. Now within 48 hours should mean that someone will get back to you before the 48 hours is up. I phoned on Tuesday morning and am still waiting. Surely Virgin mobile should be interested in getting new business. You would think that the process would be a lot more simple and they would try make it easier for you. I have a friend who recently had exactly the same problem, no one got back to him so he took his business elsewhere.
