I took out a Virgin mobile contract at the end of May. My previous contract with another provider expired and I used Vodacom Pay as you go for almost 3 months waiting for the Samsung S4 to be released and available from Virgin Mobile. Both my wife and my son have Samsung phones with contracts with Virgin Mobile. In both cases we required the numbers to be ported and it happend within a day or two. It was for this reason to wait until the new S4 was available with virgin.
It took virgin more than 20 days to port my number and still it is not done. During this time I still have to use my prepaid as I did not want to the virgin number that is unknown to my contacts and is not on my business cards. After several attempts, including visiting the Menlyn branch, calls and emails, nothing but empty promises. Suddenly, yesterday, both my S4 number and my pay as you go number are not working. The pay as you go number has a message that the number does not exists. All this happened in the middle of a business trip, where I have 2 phones and none of them are working. Despite urging virgin to fix, I get nothing but excuses.
Consumers, don't use virgin unless you want a new number, be warned.
