3G modem doesn't work with Windows 8

I phoned the Vodacom call centre to get assistance with a 3G modem which I purchased a year ago. I have upgraded my computer to windows 8 and now the modem no longer works. The call centre couldn't help me and suggested I contact their repair shop in Somerset West and they gave me the number 021 8514610. They then proceeded to tell me to call 08213506. I got to speak to JJ who told me they have a problem with modems working on windows 8 and they have no solution. When I asked to speak to the manager he informed me that neither the manager or 2nd in charge was there. He then told me to download [URL Removed] framework 3.5. I am amazed. Windows 8 has been around for several months now. What if I walked into the store with a new windows 8 laptop and wanted a modem, what would they sell me? The least they could do is offer to swap out the modem with one that works.
