Virgin Mobile South Africa
No loyalty to long term customers

On Tuesday 07 January 2013 I received an spam SMS telling me that I may be eligible for a Samsung Galaxy Smartphone phone from Virgin at R189 a month. I often get spam like this and delete, but as I have been a Virgin customer for 6 years I thought this was specifically targeted. I replied yes to receive a call, and eight hours later a representative called me to try and sell the product/service. Turns out though, as a 'valued' customer of Virgin, I'm not eligible?! This raises two points: firstly, how hard was it to NOT put me on the Virgin spam list (I have an 074 number), so your marketers and telemarketers should be fired. But secondly and more importantly, what a slap in the face to someone who has been a contract customer since 2008, when I first came back from overseas and despite many many serious billing problems. When are your consumer loyalty incentives? And to rub our noses in it? I tell you what though, my contract expires in June this year, thankfully, and take this as a written promise that when the time comes to renew, I will cancel my contract and go in search of one of those 'new customer incentives' from a 'new' company. Seems I'll get better treatment that way
