I applied for a mobile contract with Telkom Mobile Canal Walk about a month ago. I got the phone the same day but a number of additional requirements I had as part of the sale have been unsolved after numerous visits to the store, calls to the contact centre, use of the chat service on the website, etc.
1. Cancellation of the existing data contract I had for R199pm. This was supposed to be effective 01 January but has not been processed.
2. Issue a second sim on the new contract for use in my ipad. The store consultant didn't know how to do this so told me to come back!
3. Register me for Telkom wifi hotspot service. The store consultant also did not know how to do this.
4. iMessage not working. The Data call centre has just informed me that it is IMPOSSIBLE to register my iMessage on my cell number because I did a SIM swap. I refuse to accept this response as it is ridiculous to tell me such a thing is impossible. This is a standard service as part of the fact that I have taken an iphone and one of the reasons I chose the iphone in the first place. If I wanted people to use my email address I would tell them to do that, and I don't need an iphone for that.
