I had issues activating iMessage and FaceTime on my iPhone 5 (via my cell number).
I understand this is a common issue, since if I'm not mistaken a SMS message is sent in the background to a server in another country, where Apple's servers are located. As a result, some networks block this SMS from being sent, or block the confirmation SMS from being received - whatever the case is.
I logged the issue with Telkom Mobile Business division (as I am a business client) on 2nd October - and got a reference for the log.
Next day, 11:30 - I get a call from Damelo at the Telkom Mobile ESOC Business Call Centre - who assisted me in activating iMessage and FaceTime. All in all, 7 minutes and it was sorted - I believe he had to assign certain settings on his side for the activation SMS messages to go through or be received - and he did this while I held on - excellent response - excellent service - hats off Telkom Mobile Business!
