My Vodacom bill accumulated to R9141.13 for Dec 2013. MY usual bill is about R3000 per month. I have 5 contracts with Vodacom. When requiring about this ridiculous bill, I was informed that the contract responsible for the incident is an "open contract" and that I should have request a Limit to the contract. This contract alone build up to R6000. I was never informed or warned during the month via SMS or E-mail about the situation and only become aware of it when the amount of R9141.13 was deducted. When taking out this contract, I clearly stated that I don't want another surprise on the monthly billing amount. I had an incident with my wife's cell phone contract on a Samsung S4, a couple of months before taking out this contract. The automatic update function on her phone was activated and caused us a R2000 surprise. I didn't want another reoccurrence of this nature and therefore specifically mention it to the Vodacom person who assisted us with the new contract. I believe that Vodacom conveniently withhold information from new customers until it is to late. I also believe that the client should be protected by default and not on request from the customer.
