How was I to know I was buying a pig in a poke??!!

In April of this year, I went to the Vodastore in Zevenwacht mall and enquired as to when I could do my upgrade. Great service from them!! They informed me that Vodacom offers a service where you can upgrade over the phone.
DO NOT DO THIS!
I have selected the Smart S Contract that supplies an iPhone 5, 75 minutes, 200 sms's and 200mb of data @ R429 per month. You get refered to the website to "look up the contract". What rubbish!!
Every month I noticed that my contract was getting more and more expensive, until, last month, my bill was about FOUR AND A HALF THOUSAND RAND.
I then contacted Vodacom and asked what my mandatory call limit is, as I saw this is applicable to the first 7 months of a contract. They then informed me that it's only for new contracts. What rubbish! Yes, I have been a client of Vodacom for the past 6 years, but this is a NEW PACKAGE AND NEW PHONE! No limit.
Finish bundle = pile up bill
I phoned the 'cancellation line' to find out if I can leave Vodacom once and for all. This would cost me R7500 I was told that 'the terms and conditions had been emailed to you'. Funny that I never saw it.
Thank you Vodacom!! You are the perfect example of incompitence
