IME removed from phone when repaired

On the 3 Nov I took my S4 through to Vodacom repairs Cresta for a screen replacement and was told that they could not assist me as my phone did not have an IME number this was a total shock to me as I had taken my phone in a month earlier and the number was there. I then went to the Vodashop to speak to the manager on duty and he resolved the matter as repairs had initially removed the serial number. 12 days later I collect my phone and now discover that my phones cover has been misplaced after an hour and a half of running around and nonchalant attitude from the staff at the repair shop my cover was finally replaced.
The next day I went directly to Samsung to purchase a battery and they were unable to assist me WHY?? because tempering with the IME NUMBER = NO WARRANTY I immediately contacted the manager at Vodashop who said he would liaise with the repairs manager and revert back to me the RESULT they are willing to issue me with a free battery. I logged a complaint against the store via the call centre, 48hrs later STILL NO RESPONSE.
So my question now is how sure am I that the phone returned to me is MINE and WHAT ABOUT MY WARRANTY this is unacceptable and disgusting service!
