Virgin makes it difficult to cancel your contract

I want to cancel my contract when it expired. I tried to inform by giving them 30 days notice. The local store cannot help and we need to call the call centre. I phoned twice but each time they take down my information and then put me through to cancellation and we get cut off, after I have held on for at least 10 minutes and listened to the recording. Eventually, after 3 attempts, I get to speak to someone who informs me that there is no need to give notice the contract will automatically expire. Meanwhile, I had sent an email and someone contacted me. She said that the information was incorrect and I had to give notice of cancellation. I supplied my details and she said that the cancellation was in place for the 27th of October. When I tried to port my number, I was told that my contract was not cancelled!!! I contacted the call centre, was informed cancellation people in meeting will call me. No call. I phoned them and spoke to Lerato on 29th October. She said that she would put a request for immediate cancellation. I should get notification, if not I should call on the 30th. I called, again, I give my info and they put me through to cancellation department and get cut off again
