The most frustrating service eve

I can't describe how consistently appalling MTN's service is, and I feel deep regret at renewing my contract with them. Even banks don't waste this much of my time.
I upgraded my phone through MTN Direct. All the while I thought I was dealing with MTN Direct, it was actually an MTN branch in Klerksdorp. The person I was dealing with there was most unhelpful when I attempted to get clarity on purchasing data bundles.
I contacted MTN last week to find out what my bill was, and I also asked them how I could track my data usage. They told me to call 0831238000 and to request a central pin from that number. I've tried to call this number for a week but it remains unoperational.
I also contacted Customer Care, and was asked what I meant by a "central pin". Then I was told to sms a number 44303, which is not free of charge.
This is truly absurd. Is there no-one at MTN who is actually equipped to deal with customers?!
