I just spent R500 replacing a stick modem from Vodacom. The modem keeps on dropping to EDGE even though there is 3G coverage and I can't force it to say on 3G. It seems like the modems are built like this on purpose. If I use my blackberry as a modem I can force it to stay on 3G.
The modem also sometimes stops working for a bit and then comes back up. This is very annoying when working on a VPN.
R500 is definitely daylight for a modem like this. I want a refund.
