Charged for bank fees by Vodacom for late debit payment

Having missed my December 2012 debit order, I was prompted by the company to make payment and subsequently arranged to pay R666.50 within 7 days. Which I did. And now my debited amount is R893.93. Did I miss something? I was informed my late payment was my normal debit but now I'm being debited almost R300 extra for Vodacom's 'bank charges'? Surely this madness can't be right? I'm being charged 'bank charges' AGAIN for what?
