Surely I cannot be the only person who objects to being billed an extra R100-00 for being a day late with my payment? Due to unforeseen circumstances my debit order was not met on 26th of the month... on 27th I did an eft for the full amount outstanding and yet I still get sms' stating that my account is in arrears. In the past, when this has happened I unwittingly paid the extra amount of R100-00, but today I queried this and was told "the banks charge Vodacom R100 for every debit order that is not met' so I called Standard Bank. I was told that they 'DO NOT charge Vodacom - the bank charges are due by the account holder for not having sufficient funds at the time' which I can fully understand. Somewhere, someone is pulling a - unless Vodacom can prove to me that the banks do indeed charge them that fee, I will argue my case.
