I tried dealing with this issue privately for nearly 3 months but received an invoice for R4, 500 this morning for a handset I returned more than 2 months ago.
I signed a new contract on 28 June 2013 and received a new handset. On activation I requested to keep my old Vodacom number.By the 4th of July the Samsung considered itself a pre-paid phone when in actual fact I was a contract customer. I phoned daily for nearly 2 weeks to get this reversed & every person in every department I spoke to simply "escalated" my problem elsewhere.
After much frustration I realised this problem is not going to be resolved & requested a cancellation. Also requested collection of the phone & a refund since I had already been billed for 2 months subscription in addition to 2 pro-rata payments - please keep in mind, I literally had use of this phone for 4 days before it stopped working. I only received a refund for 1 month's subscription but decided to let it go since it wasn't worth the aggravation. But no more.
Vodacom is by far the most unethical & illogical company I've had to deal with. I can't stop payment since they'll simply report me & affect my credit rating. So Hello Peter, CPA next.
