Vodacom
Cannot cancel deceased mothers phone account

After my mother passed away 3 months ago, I first contacted Vodacom to find out what my options were in terms of cancelling the contract. I was told nothing could be done until such time as I had executorship, the guy had no interest in helping me and told me I should just pay the contract in cash in store.. This seemed strange to me as every other company I had contacted to inform of her death were prepared to alter the bank details for debit orders, took the death certificate as proof etc etc. so I have been paying her cellphone account, and keeping money in her bank account for this reason.

About 2 months later I got a call from the legal department, asking me why I hadn't sent the death certificate through and what did I want to do with her account. I told the woman that I had been told to keep paying the account, Id prefer to cancel it and have the settlement letter sent to my home address to claim from her estate.

I sent through all the documents for this, and yet again, I have had no response, another debit order has gone off my mothers account. When I called Vodacom he said due to high call volumes, could I hold, which no, I cant, at 20 minutes at a time.
