Not Getting What I Asked For Vodacom

My contracted expired and vodacom told me to come in to sort my contract out. I went in and explained nicely to the guy that i want just the bbm coz I don't want another contract right now. He asked me if I would like a contract with a phone, I told him no because I wanted to wait a few months first then I will come in and "upgrade" my contract. Now when I see the phone I want and I want to upgrade, now the same guy tells me that I have signed a 2 year contract. After I specificaly told him I did not want a contract, only the bbm until I see the phone I want. Can somone maybe give me some advice on what to do? So basically now I'm paying for a contract without a phone which was not what I wanted. Can I just rather cancel the contract that I apparently signed. This happened in March this year.
