Cancelled contract

I have evidence of the email that I sent to MTN on 23 June 2013, in order to cancel my cellphone contract. I also have their automated acknowledgement of receiving the email.

So I contact them again some time later to follow up on the cancellation, and the agent only cancels the contract on 17 July and my bank account is again debited for July fees. The agents explanation is that I only cancelled on 17 July and I am still liable for July premium. Explain why the first email was never actioned MTN! MTN rips people off!
