Hi, I recently started a brand new contract with MTN. I received my first statement today and noticed fees that were not discussed with me, specifically a "PROMO SERVICE FEE" of R148.24. Before I signed the contract I asked numerous times if there were any additional charges, this question was posed to more than one person - and I was assuring told "NO". It now appears that the agents were not transparent about all the charges, do the MTN outlets not comply with the CPA (Consumer Protection Act)? I work with a strict budget, thus the reason for asking numerous times what all the monthly charges would be and if I had to pay any fees for the handset itself - still the answer was "NO". Unfortunately I feel that I made a huge mistake switching service providers as this is a very unpleasant first impression and I am now paying much more than I was told in the shop. I expect that MTN should be held accountable for the "PROMO SERVICE FEE" that was never discussed or mentioned whatsoever, or a penalty free contract cancellation must be done.
