MOBILE BLACKLISTING

I am the legal owner of a Blackberry device. On 16 January 2013 I tried to make a call from this device only to find out that emergency calls could be made. After numerous telephone calls to try and resolve the problem, I was left with no choice but to stay without a phone for the night. I am employed and had to ask my Director during work hours on Friday 18 January 2013 to visit an MTN shop to see if they could not fix the problem. To my astonishment one of the consultants advised me that the device was blacklisted. Numerous calls and harsh words later, I managed to find out from MTN that Telkom had blacklisted the IMEI number which rendered my device useless. I was told by MTN to contact Telkom as they were the only institution who could reverse the blacklist order on my phone. After a call I was advised by whomever answered the phone that she would write an email to her Manager as he is the only person who could get the ball rolling. It is now Friday evening and I am still without a mobile phone. I would like to know who gives anybody the right to blacklist a perfectly above board mobile device. What if I were on the road in an emergency situation? This is not the end of this.
