Vodacom
Non Compliance with CPA

On 17 May I upgraded my phone and contract at a Vodacom outlet in Irene Mall Centurion. I received a Blackberry 9790. The staff informed me that they can not transfer my data from my old Blackberry to the new phone and referred me to the Vodacom Care shop in Centurion Mall. This turned out in a 2 hour ordeal where the technician swopped cards, phones changed passwords constantly. When I left I saw that the Blackberry messenger did not respond and I can not do anything as a message keep appearing that the cookies must be enabled although this was the case. I immediately returned. The person who tinkered with the phone for 2 hours were not there anymore and the next one told me to go back to the store where I got the phone and do a OBR. This was already after 6 and I could do so only on Saturday morning. At Irene Mall I was told that company policy dictates that the phone goes for repairs and that the CPA requirements do not apply to the cell phone industry. This despite the fact that the phone was defective an hour after getting it and never been handled by myself, but only by a Vodacom Care Technician.
