I took my Blackberry handset in for repair after experiencing a cursor failure which rendered the phone unusable. It is a contract phone that comes with std 2 year warranty. I was advised that the warranty has been made void by the slight damage on the mute button ie is a rubber on top of the phone and as a result the repair on the cursor would be chargeable despite the obvious fact that cursor problem is unrelated to the rubber damage. I requested that they should fix only cursor problem and leave out the mute rubber as I can do without it. I found it unfair to be expected to pay R850 on a repair that resulted from unit failure.
