Vodacom cancel cellphone warranty incorrectly

I took my blackberry in for repairs on 09 March 2013 due to it switching off at full charge, does not switch back on without removing the battery as well as heating up (which seemed to be quite serious).
Vodacom sent the phone to the repair centre (after telling me that it will be covered under warranty even though the little rubber on the side of the phone was worn out - due to wear and tear *this becomes the centre of the argument later).
I was later informed via sms it was sent to the advanced repair centre.
Eventually I was informed that the phone could not be repaired but will be replaced after I pay a fee of R1800. I was then told it was taken out of warranty due to the physical damage. I maintain that it is not physical damage but in fact wear and tear, I even have another blackberry 9360 which belongs to a friend that is experiencing the very same wear and tear. Pictures of this was sent to Vodacom.
I will not pay for this replacement, I do not need the rubber repaired, I need the phone repaired (now replaced since it cannot be fixed).
I dealt with a man named Vukile who is very unprofessional, I have emails to prove this.
Very disappointed.
