Lose my Top Up Balance when transferred to Prepaid

I am transferring to prepaid from TopUP MTN account so that I can port my number to Cell C. When I spoke to an agent (after holding for 10 minutes listening to the same looped message) they told me that the R140 airtime I had of my TopUp contract gets cancelled when I transferred to Prepaid. I was apparently welcome to wait until I had used my airtime and the balance was zero. I said do it anyway - I can't be a customer of MTN's any longer.
