Vodacom Steals my Airtime

I have had one of these Topup R 135 (amongst others) contracts for 2 years now and seeing as I keep losing money every month I decided to rather cancel the contract and then I can use maybe R 70 or so a month. When I cancelled the contract I was assured that my current R 735 airtime credit would remain on my pay-as-u-go (as I was persuaded to rather keep the number). Now I find out that Vodacom plans to my R 735 airtime when I move from Topup (which was explained to me as being prepaid, but with a steady airtime purchase every month) to Prepaid.
What I would like to know is if I as the consumer don't have any rights here. The lady almost got rude with me toward the end of the call with her "just wait and you'll see what happens" statement. If they record these calls, then they must also have a recording of where the Vodacom rep expressly told me (not assumed, I specifically asked) that my balance would be transferred / kept on my number.
Am I the only one getting tired of this "We're Vodacom and we're big and you're just a customer and very small" bully tactics?
Now must cancel my cancellation, reinstate my contract and then I will have 5 months to use the airtime (R 135x5)
