I have had the misfortune of trying to access added value from my gym membership at Virgin Active. However all that I am met with is an attempt to channel me along a revenue stream. It is a wonder that they don't charge to speak to you on their Helpline.
Just to occasionally (once or twice a month) visit a different gym I am looking at doubling my subscription. Likewise with going to gym while I have my 20 month old son. I will have to register him as a member and pay full rate so that he can be looked after the once maybe twice I go to gym with him in tow.
So basically if I want to access another (single) gym on an occasional basis and take my son with me once or twice a month then I will have to triple my subscription. Where is the value in that. Once they sucker you into the membership everything else becomes revenue driven.
