Cancellation of a contract

I called Vodacom to cancel a contract on Invoice I4485882 and was instructed that I would receive an SMS with a reference number. I never received the number, so I followed up two days later with an email to [email protected]. I never received a response. I have now received a notice that my account is in arrears, and the cancellation was not done because I did not follow the right procedure.

I then requested a quote for early cancellation of the remaining data line, which is a SIM card-only contract. I was told to first pay the arrears and then contact them again to get the quote for early cancellation. This is the worst customer care experience I have ever had. Vodacom is dishonest and not transparent in dealing with clients and then blames the clients for not following procedures. I have not once received any response from their customer care email or a call back, even after multiple promises were made that a supervisor would call. What a disgrace, and as a client, I am stuck having to dance to their music if I ever want a solution. Their alternative is to threaten reporting you to the ITC, with legal action, etc.

On a final note, I have made all the due payments on the data line but stopped paying the other contract, with the last payment being in June 2025, as I gave them 30 days' notice as required and submitted my request for cancellation on the 25th of May 2025.
