Account application declined despite good credit

I applied for an Edgar's account on 26/10/2013. After having to phone them to check on the status (I was told after completing the application that they would get back to me) I was told the application was declined. The consultant advised me to check with Transunion. I was surprised at this and I did so immediately. I have a very good credit rating with no notices or judgments against my name. My accounts are all up to date. Woolworths had previously approved credit immediately upon application and my account with them has never been in default. I called Edgars back only to be told that they couldn't give me specific details as to why my application was declined. All she could tell me was that I should reapply in three months time? Very frustrating!
