Beware the credit note and restocking fees

I purchased a 60" LG Plasma TV as Hirsch's Centurion yesterday. The TV ended up being a very bad purchase as it ended functioning more like a mirror than a TV. We returned the TV today, but was informed that a restocking fee would apply. We were never informed by the salesperson that a restocking fee would be levied on returns. Eventually after protesting about it, the restocking fee was waived. The second disgusting bit of service is that Hirsch's only issue credit notes and no refunds. To purchase a similar LED TV would cost me a significant amount of money more than the Plasma TV, money which I would have to save up. Hirsch point blank refused to issue me a refund on my money. As I cannot purchase another TV I now have to look at other appliances at Hirsch's in order to utilise the credit. In my view this flies in the face of the consumer act. Fortunately I can exercise my rights by informing other customers not purchase from Hirsch's and not to make the same mistake I did. Hirsch's need to sort out their attitude to customers and refrain from making their issues their customer's issues. I will not buy another item ever again from Hirsch's and would recommend others follow suit.
