Unskilled staff that cost consumer money

I approached Hirsch's to purchase an undercounter oven and hob. The sales lady showed me a Kelvinator oven and then advised me to purchase a Defy hob as the oven had controls for the hotplates and the Defy did not. On questioning her whether or not they were compatible, i was told they are completely compatible and i can simply plug the hob into the oven.
On opening up the connection box i discovered that the connections are completely different. I called Hirsch's and they informed me i would need to buy another hob as i have passed the allowed 7 days return policy.
So due to the lack of staff training or the willingness of Hirsch's to sell anything at any cost, i am out of pocket a few thousand Rand. Brilliant money making scheme if you ask me.
