Glencoe Trust Company
Damages Deposit

Glencoe Trust are holding two months rental deposit. I did not pay the last months rent as this could be taken off the double deposit being held. When my daughter, a student at UCT, vacated the property & arranged for a cleaning service the caretaker advised her to cancel as there were extensive refurbishments to be done to the old unit, this being one. His job was to gut and refurbished the unit before it being rented out again. He asked if she would help him compile a list of what was needed to be done to refurbish the apartment (included in the list was a pane of glass from the front bedroom which needed to be replaced which we would be responsible for the replacement of). He asked her to sign the list but advised that she was only responsible for the pane of glass. In her naivety and trust she signed the form and her signature on the list has been taken that she is responsible for the refurbishment. We have been charged R8 756-50 for sanding and resealing the parquet flooring, a second window pane was broken and replaced, a 'night latch' placed and the entire apartment scraped and painted and labour costs. I am happy to pay for the window pane broken during our tenanture
