I took up an offer of an overseas contract and made a decision to rent out my house while I was gone. Things were ok in the beginning, however, there were several occasions where I was receiving information about my house from my neighbours (looking out for my interests), rather than the Rent Property team who were administering my property, etc. Probably a sign of things to come!
I have many issues that I could list, but the main issue, and one I had been very vocal about to the Rent Property team including the Managing Director, was that a proper and detailed exit inspection had to be carried out before re-leasing the deposit.
I returned to my house to find in excess of 15 lights needing replacement (all were working when I left), a completely water damaged kitchen cupboard, broken bedroom cupboard, damaged window, broken pool net, damaged pool cleaner, damaged aircon unit and badly repaired holes in my interior walls to name just a few of my major concerns.
Rent Property have indicated that they no longer look after the property, and effectively all the above problems have been placed squarely on my shoulders.
Lesson: Don't rent out again, & if I do, NEVER use Rent Property
