I started working at a government school in January. I have a BA degree and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. The university I graduated from only has its graduation ceremony in April, so at the time of my appointment I had yet to receive my PGCE certificate but had completed all my exams and passed well. As a result when submitting documentation after my appointment I used an official university transcript and a letter from the university stating my PGCE had been completed and would be conferred to me in April. My first payslip arrived at the end of January and I realised they had me on the incorrect pay-scale. I went to the department to correct this. For the last 5 months I have been going to the department on a regular basis and keep being promised it will be rectified. Every time I go I am required to resubmit copies of; my ID, matric results, BA, PGCE as well as my SACE registration. A teacher at my school who was appointed after me, is only graduating at the end of June but has been on the correct pay-scale the entire time. We also applied for housing allowance on the exact same day and she has been getting hers, I have received nothing. Pathetic service!
