Earlier this year, I took my jacket in to the Pinelands Tailor to replace the zipper. Two months later, the zipper breaks. I took the jacket back to the tailor and asked them to repair the zipper but they insist on charging me full price to replace it again, quoting their "10 day return policy".
The zipper supplied was of an inferior quality if it breaks after two months. According to the Consumer Protection Act Section 55 "Consumer's rights to safe, good quality goods" and Section 56 "Implied warranty of quality", the supplier can be held responsible for supplying inferior products for a period of six months after sale.
The fact that they tailor refused to repair their handiwork after 10 days is illegal by South African Law.
