My son had an injury to his elbow on Friday, 29 March 2013. We went to Midvaal Private Hospital Casualties. First of all we had to pay R1600 before the dr is seen. He had to go for x-rays, with no dr to do an analysis. The dr in casualties sent us home with half a cast and a loose sling and his comments, nothing is wrong, 2 days later you can take the bandage off and go on as normal. But please also just have the x-rays analised on Tuesday at a dr close to your house. On Sunday we took the cast off as being instructed, with a very swollen elbow and very bruised and very very painful. On Monday on our way home we took him to Unitas with the x-rays and the dr at casualties could see the fracture straigt away. He had an operation on Monday evening to repair the growth-plate that moved, the muscle that torn and the cartilage that broke. He is in another cast for 2 weeks with a sling and in 4 weeks he will have to go back to theatre to remove the pins. I just want to warn people not to go to casualties at Midvaal Private Hospital, there service is not of what we are used to at other hospitals.
