Entire department unreachable for the past 3 days!

Since last Wednesday I have been trying to contact Specramed for hospital pre-authorization via 0860-1-2474. The voice response system either connects me to a line that isn't answered, or keeps repeating the same options over and over again. I then called the National Call Centre, where an employee kindly offered to put me through to one of the people in the pre-authorization department, but then disconnected me instead. This happened twice. The second time the employee told me that all they can do is to put me at the end of the queue and if the queue is too long (which it apparently is) the system will simply disconnect me.

Meanwhile I need pre-authorization from Spectramed (as per THEIR requirements) but they don't make it possible for me to speak to the department where I must do this!

I have sent E-mail to [Email Removed] (as per Spectramed's website instructions) as well, but I have received no response either.

At this rate I will be in theatre before someone at Spectamed's pre-authorization department has answered my calls, and I will end up paying out of pocket. So what the am I paying my medical aid contributions for, then?
