Delayed Authorization

After only being able to get an appointment with a specialist on 19/8/13, I was advised that I need to be in theatre on 22/8/13 for a day procedure. The fact that it is crucial that the procedure be perfomed, is not enough for the medical aid to give the relevant authorization. Motivation was send to the medical aid with valid ICD10 codes. The authorization was referred for review, and can take between 3 and 5 working days. This means that it is already the day of admission or after even admission. The implication is that the procedure will have to be postponed. It is unexeptable that I need to suffer longer as the medical aid delaying the procedure. The only advise I received from the medical aid was to postpone or to have the doctor contact them personally. Unfortunately, he is unavailable to do so. Is a written moivation, with valid IC10 codes not enough to get the authorization??? PATHETIC!!!
