We went Cafe Sofia last night to redeem "seafood platter" coupons that we bought via wikideals. Now I realise that R99 is cheap for a seafood platter for two, but that is the whole point of a coupon. We have bought many deals like this before and if the restaurant is good I will happily go back and pay full price many times (Zapata in Kennilworth is an example: go there!).
After arriving for our booking (I had specified what voucher deal we had) we ordered some Amstels (the beer on tap wasn't working) which arrived warm. Never mind, we aren't fussy, we just asked for a bucket of ice to let them sit in.
After waiting for an hour (we were one of three tables, one of whom left without waiting for food) our food arrived. The platter for two looked like a platter for one at Ocean Basket except the food is actually appetising there. The 5 rings of calamari were like rubber bands, there were about 6 prawns and none of the mussels that were supposed to be there. When we inquired about the mussels we were told they were out of stock so they had given us 2 extra prawns already.
The waiter was completely unapologetic and uncommunicative; He also forgot to bring the extra drinks we ordered.
