My partner needs to go in for an op, to remove the pin in his bone from an accident that happend 6 years ago, which is now infected, I called in to get hospital Authorization. but because there was a 90 gap in cover, they are coming up with excuses, the gap is almost up, 17 days before the gap is done! He has been on discovery for 8 years, I cannot understand how they cannot just give authorization? does his leg have to fall off before any action is taken, i have called 8 times every day for the last 4 days for assistance, they come up with any reason not to Authorize, but dont have a problem taking the premium every month! I have been a member for the last 10 years!
The surgeon only does the operations on a Tuesday (when he was supposed to be admitted) and Fridays... I advised each consultant on every call how imperrative it is that he goes in tomorrow (Friday) because the infection so bad! And I needed this done urgently.
They want to see if he went on Medical Aid after his infection started! That is ridiculous, if that was the case, his leg would have had to be amputated long ago!!
