I have donated more than 50 units of blood in my life. On 10 July 2013 I had my baby & as it was a difficult birth the doctor ordered blood. I luckily didn't end up needing a transfusion. Nevertheless, I received a bill for both myself & baby after our medical aid payed sanbs the full amount. It wasn't a huge amount R48.49 for myself & R25.45 for baby. I almost paid immediately because I don't like owing money, but the threatening bright stickers stuck on the letter made me think twice. Contacted medical aid who told us that we owe them nothing as they paid IN FULL. My husband tried contacting sanbs numerous times but to no avail.By now we had numerous demands from them each more threatening than before with more annoying stickers. When they threatened me with debt collection I was livid! Emailed them the copy of med aid letter stating that we owe them nothing & got a bland response basically saying that they do this all the time & that some people just pay & others don't & sorry. That is blatant! They are threatening people who have generally had an awful experience & relying on them just paying what they do not owe because they are scared of being blacklisted! Shocking!
