CAN ANYONE STILL MAKE A PHONE CALL??

I went to the dentist (Dr Corne van Geer) 27.9.2012. Before leaving I paid the amount of R298.16 that they said was my shortfall. Now in January 2014 we get a letter from attorneys threatening us with being summonsed saying that our medical aid never paid the balance of the account (R541.70). Obviously the attorneys added their R552 and now we have to pay R1 206.90... My point being that we DID NOT KNOW that the medical aid did not pay the balance. I phoned the Parkview Branch to find out why we were never informed and I was told that 2 sms was sent to us as well as quite a few e-mails, but they could not give me the e-mail address they used... I certainly never received a e-mail. I phoned their accounts dept and got the same reply... Is sending a sms or e-mail acceptable? If only a phone call was made this whole situation would have been avoided. Is this not the job of people working in account departments to MAKE SURE people are aware of outstanding balances before ending up like me? We did not have a fair chance to react, just because someone did not do their job properly and ASSUMED that we were informed. The attorneys had no problem making a phone call to me...
