I was diagnosed with the following and this is a portion of the Ophthalmologist's request to Discovery which was sent in October 2013
She requires an intra-muscular botox injection to relax opposing intra-ocular muscle so that the eye can abduct and relieve the patient of the double vision. This is a temporary solution as only at 6 months following the onset of the strabismus can ocular muscle surgery be considered.
This patient cannot work due to the double vision and this surgery needs to be done so that she can cope and see single and get back to work. This has nothing to do with cosmetic reasons it is a functional surgery. It has nothing to do with wrinkles around the eyes it is all about the squint!!!
I was told a few days before this procedure that Discovery doesn't cover the procedure.
