DISCOVERY HOSPITAL PLAN MEMBERS BEWARE

After submitting a quotation for knee replacement surgery I received authorisation from DISCOVERY on the basis of my Coastal Core Plan.

After undergoing the surgery I was amazed to discover that Discovery only paid R6600 for the surgery as that is 100% of the amount which they allow for this procedure. This is less than one third of quotation submitted.

Discovery know full well that this amount is a complete figment of their imagination as there are no reputable orthopaedic surgeons who would do this procedure for this fee (including the prosthesis)

I would advise Discovery members on the Coastal Core Plan to find out exactly what Discovery will pay before being lulled into the false impression that they will be adequately covered in the event they require surgery.
