I have been a member of Discovery since 2005 and I've always found their service to be better than 'average', up until now!
On the 19th April 2013 we applied for approval for my wife for Gastric By-pass surgery (also known as the Roux-en-Y). Despite meeting to Discovery's extensive and invasive medical requirements, including consulting with a dietician and implementing an eating regime to lose 10% of my body weigh pre-op, consulting with a registered Psychologist and meeting their requirements to qualify for the mentioned surgery also implementing an exercise regime with a Biokinetiisist / Personal Trainer. Discovery has however still failed to come through with the authorization, despite all my efforts!
The Roux-en-Y procedure is one of the procedures that Discovery claim to cover and authorize within 2 - 5 days, yet now after 10days (more than twice the time) after our request, Discovery keep making internal bungles and excuses as to why they cannot authorize this procedure.
There is extensive pre-op preparation for this procedure, not to mention the emotional trauma of undergoing such a procedure, which is further compounded by the stress of Discovery not coming fo
