I received feedback on a quote I sent to Discovery in August 2012, based on the information I got, my planned procedure was going to be covered from the hospital benefit and there was no overall limit for the dental surgery. The surgery did not take place in 2012 but was scheduled for 2013. In June 2013, the same quote was sent to Discovery with the updated 2013 prices. Feedback I received is that I will be covering most of the costs for the very same procedure. Discovery will be paying only up to R 19, 200 for a procedure that will come up to about R35, 000. I relied on written feedback I received from Discovery in 2012 and hence stayed on the same option as I was in 2012. If I had received the correct information in 2012, I would have definitely moved on to a higher option.
I was misled by Discovery and now have these huge costs to cover from my own pocket. Why should I cover these when Discovery gave me the wrong information? I believe Discovery should pay for the procedure based on the quote that I received in 2012.
Why is Discovery giving me different feedback on a quote for the same procedure by the same Specialist when I am on the same medical aid option?
