DEAR HALLO PETER,
I received a big surprise when I discovered that Discovery without any consent from myself in writing or telephonic added one of my dependents as an adult seeing that he is not a minor anymore. And also took it upon themselves to deduct almost R5 900 from my salary for the addition. I requested them to remove him from my medical aid with immediate effect and was told that I need to give 30 day notice, but how can I give notice to someone if I never added him as an adult in the first place?
I requested them to refund the money deducted and they refuse. I feel it is unfair and that they are not doing business the correct way. I have been a Discovery client for many years and not once have I been notified that should one of my dependents become an adult that they will be automatically added as an adult.
Also the dependent is not living with me and should any doctors accounts come through for this dependent during the "notice time" I feel that I should not be held responsible for them. He is an adult and working and should Discovery wanted him on medical aid they should have contacted him directly.
PLEASE COULD HELLO PETER ASSIST
Trust to hear from you soon
