Despite raising my dissatisfaction as to how parents are charged for our " Adult Dependents" by Discovery Health; no-one can explain why premiums vitually double when a dependent turn 21 years old. To add insult to injury... when my 21 year old daughter (Adult Dependent) joined Virgin Active as a Vitality member, she was told that she does not qualify for the same discounts as a spouse, despite paying the same premium as one. Why??? Yet another way to " squeeze" the middle class tax-paying public? Most of us have Adult Dependents because our offspring are still studying full-time and have to foot the bill for all the expenses attached to that. Is it not in everyone's interest that our young people try to exercise and lead a healthy life? No wonder South Africans are leaving Medical Aids at an alarming rate!!!
