Poor service and lack of knowledge

I took my Smart Forfour in for a repair for fluctuating revs on 31.12.2013 . i was assisted by Carl. they proceeded to do a diagnostic test on the vehicle and clear an imbedded fault code and then sent me on my way. The error persisted just outside the workshop after which i went back to Carl who threw his hands in the air as if there is nothing more they can do. they didn't even look into what could've caused the code. i persisted as to what could cause the problem and one of the technicians said he thinks its a throttle body and quoted me on R10'000.00 for the part. that amount for a 'think'? i feel very poorly treated and the lack of interest or knowledge of the technician is very evident. Mercedes is alleged to be the smart experts but i have in the interim done my own investigating and found it to be a faulty first lambda sensor, this from as an accountant with nil technical knowledge. i paid the diagnostic fee prior to me taking the car and realize that was a mistake since nothing was solved and i have in effect the R760.00 against a wall. i paid a lot for a car wash?! absolutely pathetic experience and level of service.
